On Sunday, 25 January 2026, in the renowned Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall, the Zagreb Markovac Folklore Ensemble will ceremoniously conclude its 80th anniversary year with a grand concert that will unite tradition, togetherness, and the impressive artistic strength of one of the longest-standing ensembles on the Croatian cultural scene. All sections of the ensemble will gather on the Lisinski stage, and more than 300 performers – dancers, singers, and musicians – will present the splendour of traditional costumes, music, and dance from nearly all parts of our homeland. The audience can look forward to an exciting journey through the richness of Croatian heritage. The concert will bring together generations – from the youngest members to the veterans – symbolising continuous work, a love of tradition, and a deep commitment to preserving cultural identity. The festive conclusion of the anniversary year will also serve as a gesture of gratitude to all members, friends, and audiences who have supported the Zagreb Markovac Folklore Ensemble throughout its decades-long journey. This musical and scenic spectacle at Lisinski promises an evening filled with emotion, energy, and pride, celebrating the beauty of Croatian folklore on the country’s greatest stage – a living tradition that grows, evolves, and is passed on from generation to generation.
